What's the difference between the demo and desktop app?

The demo is a browser-based version perfect for quick testing and evaluation. It has all core features but sessions are limited to 30 minutes, shared access (one user at a time), and data is auto-deleted after each session.

The desktop app has no time limits, runs 100% locally on your machine with full AI processing, keeps your data private, and includes session saving/templates. It's designed for production use.

How long can I use the demo?

Each demo session lasts 30 minutes. After that, your session data is automatically deleted and you can start a new session. There's no limit on how many sessions you can start—it's completely free to use as many times as you want for evaluation.

Is my data safe in the demo?

The demo runs in your browser and your data is processed server-side, but we treat it with care. That said, the demo is shared infrastructure (one user at a time), so we recommend using test data or non-sensitive files. All demo data is automatically deleted after your 30-minute session ends.

For sensitive data, download the desktop app where everything runs 100% locally on your machine with no cloud uploads.

Can multiple people use the demo at once?

No, the demo supports one user at a time. If someone else is using it, you'll need to wait for their session to end (30 minutes max) or for them to log out. The desktop app has no such limitation—each person can run it independently on their own machine.

Should I try the demo or download the desktop app?

Start with the demo if you want to quickly test Datally with your actual data before installing anything. It's perfect for evaluation and proof-of-concept work.

Download the desktop app if you're ready for production use, need unlimited session time, want full data privacy with local AI processing, or need to save and reuse session templates.

How long is the Design Partner program?

We expect the design partner phase to run through Q4 2025, with general availability planned for Q1 2026. Design partners will be notified 60 days before any transition to paid pricing, with all benefits locked in.

Is this really 100% free?

Yes! No credit card, no hidden fees, no gotchas. Design partnership includes the full desktop application with all AI features unlocked. We're co-building the product with you based on real-world usage and feedback.

What happens to my data when the design partner phase ends?

All your data, sessions, and configuration are preserved. When we transition to general availability, design partners receive exclusive founding partner pricing as a thank you for helping shape the product. Your workflows continue uninterrupted.

Design partners get special pricing benefits when we launch, direct access to our product team, priority support status, early access to new features, and optional recognition as a founding partner.

How do I participate as a design partner?

Design partners get direct access to our product team via email (beta@datally.io) and will be invited to optional co-design sessions. Share your real-world usage, request features, and help prioritize the roadmap.

Can I use Datally for production work as a design partner?

Absolutely! The core data consolidation workflow is stable and production-ready. We're refining newer AI features based on your real-world usage. We recommend keeping backups of critical data as with any software.

What if I need team licenses as a design partner?

Design partnership is currently individual, but team licenses will be available at general availability. Contact us at sales@datally.io if you need multi-seat access—we can make special arrangements for design partners.

Is my data safe? Does it work offline?

100% yes. Datally is a desktop application that runs entirely on your local machine—not a cloud service. All AI processing uses local models (Ollama). Your sensitive data never leaves your infrastructure. Works completely offline.
